How to fold jeans if you want tons of closet space

Closet space is prime real estate in my house, so I do everything I can to maximize closet space for clothing. A huge pain point for me has always been finding the best way to store jeans. For the longest time, I tried different ways of folding them, but it always seemed like a waste of space. I'd place them on shelves, only for the stack to topple when I pulled a pair from the bottom. Hanging them on hangers seemed like a great idea until I realized it created extra creases, and storing jeans in a small closet took up too much rack space. I even tried stacking them in drawers, but that didn't work either—they'd end up spilling over the back edge and jam up my dressers. I didn't know organizing jeans in a dresser was so difficult.

I needed a solution that would save my closet space while keeping everything easily visible for a quick grab-and-go.

After years of drowning in denim every time I had to get dressed, it hit me: I was folding them wrong. Once I figured out a smarter way to fold my jeans, I could fit way more pairs in my drawers, and they stayed organized and easy to access. No more pulling out stacks, no more mess—just neat, easily visible denim, ready to go.

Get ready to have your life changed. And start folding jeans for easy storage in these few easy steps. (Or, if you are more of a visual person, check the reels tab on our Instagram page for our easy jean folding tutorial video here.)

  1. Take your jeans and fold them in half along the waistband so the legs lie flat on top of each other.
  2. Lay that fold flat and fold the jeans in half again, lengthwise.
  3. Visually divide the length into thirds.
  4. Fold the bottom half of the jeans 4-5 inches into the first third of the jjeans
  5. Fold the top half over the first fold, tucking it into the last third of the jeans.

What you're left with is a small, compact "pocket" that fits neatly into your drawer. I was surprised by how many pairs I could fit this way—and they stayed perfectly organized. No more messy stacks and digging through piles. This is as close as it gets to effortless closet organization.

This simple trick not only saves space but also makes your closet way easier to navigate. And the best part? With all the extra room, you now have a great excuse to go out and buy more jeans!
